Set in 1996, Maya Hernandez abandons a chance at the WNBA in its inaugural year to return home to Houston after her mother is diagnosed with cancer. Maya takes a position as a high school girls basketball coach for a racially and economically diverse team of troubled teens.

Conceptualized and written by Fleurette S. Fernando, the staged reading of this TV pilot features a cast of over 20 actors, visual and sound elements, and provides an inside look into the stages of a community-based story from concept to script development to film.
