Created, written and directed by Fleurette Fernando, HOOPZTOWN is a TV pilot set in inner-city Houston, Texas, on the precipice of the WNBA formation.
Set in 1996, Maya Hernandez misses a shot at the WNBA in its inaugural year to return home to Houston after her mother is diagnosed with cancer. She takes a position as a high school girls basketball coach for a racially and economically diverse team of troubled teens.
A live performance of Episode 1: Rebound was selected as part of programming for the 17th Annual Houston Cinema Arts Festival.
